“The joie de vivre and sensuality of confidence, the female form, and the playful mysticism of music and theatre, are all great sources of inspiration and influence in my artwork.”
Danish/Armenian artist Elizabeth Romhilds unique heritage and travels have instilled her creativity with a distinct individuality.
At the age of 26, she began painting realistic portraits, later moving to seascapes and landscapes. Elizabeths’ artwork has travelled through many phases on a continuous road of self-development and discovery. Gradually, Elizabeths’ art became bolder and more abstract in her portrayals of the female subject, both in the two-dimensional forms of her paintings, and the three-dimensional forms of her bronze sculptures.
Now, Elizabeths’ artistic journey has come full circle. She turns her gaze away from the external subject and focuses her attention on the inspiring calls within herself. She explores her darker underside, reflects on her own soul, and reveals her experience through the colourful tones of her palette.
Energised by her wide-ranging and international experiences and her artistic endeavours, Elizabeth has been offering the art world a constantly evolving and fascinating body of work that reflects who she is as an artist and as a person, recently including expanding her artistic vision to design. These designs are in themselves a form of art, as it is impossible to separate Elizabeths’ distinct, deeply creative and individual artistic sensitivity from the wide variety of products, from tableware to fine jewellery, that embody the expression of her art.
Elizabeth has continued to defy her boundaries throughout her long artistic career with an ever-expanding range of work that reflects her quest for more profound self-discovery.
Elizabeth has lived and worked in Bangkok, Thailand since 1988. Her artwork is part of private collections in several countries around the world including Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Italy, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, and the US.
